Summer season is ending, and I thought that I haven’t been at the sea for a very long time. And the most important – I have never had a scuba diving and haven’t studied the seabed. And what about you? Did you have this experience? And how were your impressions? In general, in the near future, I really want to try it. And in relation to such dreams an image of one of the most expensive materials for the creation of jewelry at once appeared in my head – it was the image of coral jade.
”Corals are marine invertebrates in the class Anthozoa of phylum Cnidaria. They typically live in compact colonies of many identical individual polyps. The group includes the important reef builders that inhabit tropical oceans and secrete calcium carbonate to form a hard skeleton”.
Natural coral is more valuable than the less it has natural defects and the smoothly its coloring is. Characteristic features of coral are vulnerability to high temperatures and acids.

But not all coral branches are suitable for the jewelry processing. Many of them have too small material thickness and density. Suitable coral parts are usually processed in the form of oval, sphere or cabochon.
Species of coral jade:
1. Bianco – white coral.
2. Akabar (akkabar, akkarbar) – black coral.
3. Akori – blue coral.
4. The angelic skin – pale pink coral.
5. Bull’s Blood – red, dark red coral.
6. Fiery – meat and red coral.
Corals are mined mainly in the Mediterranean Sea and the northwest coast of Africa. Coral jade is common along the coast of the western Mediterranean and the Bay of Biscay, the Canary Islands, the Malay Archipelago and Japan. Black corals are mined in the Malay Archipelago, in northern Australia and in the Red Sea. In fact, today it is difficult enough to find coral jewelry in some countries, as the extraction of coral crossed the line of poaching.
In ancient Greece, red and pink corals have been used for the manufacture of amulets, symbolizing happiness and immortality and for jewelry that turned away misfortune and illness. Coral of a pink color is useful for insomnia and has a sedative effect on the nervous system. In some countries corals were used as a contraceptive. And cosmetologists make from corals peeling masks.
Coral jade is a stone of “spoiled” people. It creates capriciousness, pretentiousness in behavior and infantilism. But it is good for travelers and for romantics. It pushes human on feats and on the searchings for adventures.
Red coral jade is a male stone, it creates masculine traits, and white coral jade is female and it forms feminine qualities.
Women can feel really excited about red coral jade, it makes them passionate and agressive as “Amazons”. So if you feel that you have some fatigue, you lost your inspiration, passion for the life and you don’t want to search for something new any more, I suggest you to pay attention to jewelry that is made exactly from this material!
