Each new season – is a search for new fashion trends. Well, I sit down at my computer, watch fashion reviews, online shows, photo-reportages and get inspired. I remember when for the first time I recognized that I want to be fashionable and stylish, I want to follow fashion rules and become a real fashionista. And then I started reading bloggers, stylists and their recommendations, and that was the first time I saw something like “In a new season jewelry in the style of the 20s, 50s, 80s and so on will be especially popular …” But what is it? And how does it look like? If you haven’t lived during those centuries – you’re unlikely to memorize it thoroughly. But we will try. Well, let’s see what kind of style is the 50s jewelry.
Among the huge variety of the most unusual for those times earrings there were cuff – beautiful earrings made of crystals that adorn the whole ear.
Several jewelry brands and designers have started to produce cuff-earrings: Marcel Boucher, Juliana D & E, Bogoff, Haskell, Kramer, Hattie Carnegie, Sarah Coventry and others. Today cuff earrings are very popular once again.
Following this trend, even standing at the stove woman, adorned herself with such luxurious necklace. Accessories made of pearls used to be both in everyday life and at official events. And even today there are women who adhere to the canons of the 50s jewelry style. They are called the “real” ladies. And no matter how modern designers are perverting on the topic of pearl beads – a classic thread of white pearls is an eternal standard of elegance. You can purchase such piece of 50s jewelry at Nammu jewelry store:
The same can be said about the classic combination of clip-earrings, bracelets and chains. These sets have gained a special popularity in the 50s jewelry style, however, they remain popular till this day. Today, large clips and regular huge earrings become popular no less than in old days. Their choice is great, but still fashionable women prefer large ring-earrings or circular patterns in the form of buttons with inserts made of malachite, crystal or topaz stones.
Another indispensable attribute of the 50s jewelry is a huge brooch with inserts made of semi precious stones. Now they find their place on the breast or on a lapel of jacket. You can attach your brooch on the corner of blouses or dresses collars, and even on a bag, scarf or jeans. In addition, current fashion trends allow us not to combine color of clothes with color of brooches.
Gold chains and decorative brooches were used as a separate jewelry. Christian Dior introduced a rhinestone necklace with pearl streaks of beads. It looked so noble that ladies were relieved of questions about the authenticity of their jewelry.
And today, by the way, this rule revives. But we remember that more than three accessories is a bad taste, don’t we?
In order to special occasions lady’s neck should be adorned with a large piece of jewelry that was chosen according to the belt tone or to the picture on a dress. Women of those times were very conservative on the issue of the right combination of clothes and accessories in image. Perhaps this made the style of the 50’s, and of course the style of the 50s jewelry an impeccable standard of femininity.
During that period, a high quality jewelry imitation have received an incredible spread, because such custom 50s jewelry was indistinguishable by a sight to the fine jewelry. Due to this, every woman, even if she has a little prosperity, could afford herself to sparkle.
It is impossible to imagine a woman of 50’s fashion without an elegant headscarf tied on her head. It gave to the incredible image a hint of fragility and subtlety.
Designers of 50s jewelry and clothes fashion have presented to contemporary fashion an incredible amount of amazing things. World has taken them, supplemented them with new technologies and presented as a priceless gift to the modern fashion industry. It remains for us only to enjoy and to remember with gratitude feminine, flirty and charming 50s jewelry.
